In Memoriam

Ray Whitney, former ASCS District Director and Administrative Officer, passed away
recently.  Funeral services were Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Yorgensen-
Melloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS.
Former Lyon County Program Technician Eunice Ludwig passed away January 14, 2008
in Springdale, Arkansas.  Eunice worked for FSA 33 1/2 years before retiring in 1987.
A memorial service was held at Brown Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, 
Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.  Memorial contributions to the Circle of Hope Hospice
may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Notes of sympathy may be sent to her

Barbara O'Leary passed away Sunday, July 15 following a bout with cancer.  Barb retired from FSA in the fall of 1996 after serving the agency for over 30 years.  Condolences may be sent to her family at:  Lynn O'Leary, 402 East 1st, Saint Francis, KS  67756

George Schilling, former Northeast Kansas District Director and Brown County CED, passed away Friday, May 11, 2007.  He retired from ASCS in 1985.  Cards may be sent to George's daughter, Elaine Schilling, 406 N 8th, Hiawatha, KS  66434.  His daughter, Rhonda Parks and son, John Schilling, both live in Lawrence, KS.

RASCOE

In 1994, a group of retired ASCS employees organized the
National Association of Retired ASCS Employees
.

THE PURPOSE:  To promote the welfare of the association's members by alignment with other organizations and active lobbying to maintain the integrity of retiree benefits.

MEMBERSHIP:  An ASCS/FSA Retiree becomes a member by paying association dues.  Any member of a state retiree organization which is affiliated with the national organization shall be a member of the national organization.  Any one wishing to show support for RASCOE may be an associate member by paying association dues.

 Current RASCOE objectives include:

bulletCOLA's without delay and being treated the same as other retirees receiving government supported retirement benefits.
bulletContinuation of health insurance as now available.
bulletContinuation of Medicare substantially in the manner as now authorized.
bulletSeek legislation to amend the social security laws, GPO and WEP provisions to enable retirees to receive full benefits earned.

RASCOE holds a meeting at the NASCOE Convention each year, where there is a banquet, in addition to discussing legislative issues and associating with friends.
